The camera doesn't make the photographer, right? You can take good pictures with any camera - and believe it or not, bad pictures too; I'll be using both DSLR and iPhone (13) grade pictures to prove my point. So then, really, what does take a good picture? How do you take that abstract concept of a successful photo and achieve it with any camera? That is what 'll cover today.
#1 Fill the Frame with What You like
yes, I'm aware this one seems like a no brainer, but it does put a huge impact on the photograph. Let's take an example:
(Taken with a Nikon d6500, ISO 800, AP 3.2, Depth 7.2)
The website decreases the quality greatly but never the
less you get an idea of what I mean by filling the frame.
It's generally used to portray something important.
Let's take the example of a portrait now:
Would you believe if I said the picture above was taken on an iPhone 13, like I said, it's the photographer not the camera.
#2 make use of leading lines
The goal is to use natural lines or shapes to guide the eye towards your main subject.
The key to this photo composition tip is to take a big-picture view of the scene you are shooting, and to spot the elements that you can use as leading lines. Look for things like rivers, train tracks, doorways or shadows, and get creative!
for instance:
#3 Use the rule of thirds
The rule of thirds refers to dividing your image into three horizontal sections and three vertical sections. You should have two lines running top to bottom, and two lines running left to right. Take a look at where those lines intersect: you should place your main subject on one of those points.
(Taken with a Nikon d6500, ISO 300, AP 5.7, Depth 1)
notice how the group of people are the subject however they are at the right to the image and not the center
The picture above doesn't really have a distinctive subject, but we can assume the bush to the bottom right to be one.
#4 EDIT EDIT EDIT !!
Yes, I know it ruins the original photograph, but I don't mean add or remove subjects, no no I mean color grading. let me show u some magic:
Believe it or not, both these pictures are the same AND were taken on the iPhone 13. But the second looks so much better than the first, this is the power of color grading; and yes, all my photographs are color graded ;)
#5 practice makes perfect
No one's perfect, not even me so keep practicing and never lose hope
here is a picture when I first started out:
Thats it for this post, see Ya'll next time
